Zelenskyy called on the Rada to support seven important bills
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on members of parliament this week to support seven bills that the Verkhovna Rada will consider. According to him, these decisions are necessary to attract funds from international partners and finance the state budget deficit. The president emphasized that these are decisions that are important for the entire country.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to members of parliament to support seven bills scheduled for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada this week. Zelenskyy thanked the lawmakers who supported the necessary decisions during the day’s votes in the Rada. At the same time, he drew attention to the bills that lawmakers are set to consider in the coming days. “And also scheduled for this week are some bills that, to be honest, mean money for Ukraine from our partners. There are seven bills on the agenda; most of them are in their first reading, but each one is necessary to finance the state budget deficit,” the president said.
According to Zelenskyy, a positive vote on these bills could help Ukraine secure significant funds from international partners. This funding is essential for the state amid a full-scale war. The president specifically emphasized that these decisions should not be influenced by the interests of individual political forces or specific lawmakers. In his view, parliament must prioritize the needs of the state above all else. “Ukraine is more than any party, interest, or PR strategy,” Zelenskyy stated.
He also acknowledged that some of the decisions may not be easy. Certain bills may spark debate or be unpopular, but the president considers them necessary to ensure Ukraine’s defense capability and resilience. “Some of the necessary decisions may be difficult, unpleasant, or unpopular, but without them, it is currently impossible to fully meet Ukraine’s needs for defense and resilience,” the head of state said.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine needs to eliminate its budget deficit. Amid the war, government spending remains substantial, particularly due to defense needs, support for the military, and other areas essential to the country. According to the president, support for these bills in the Verkhovna Rada could provide Ukraine with billions of dollars in revenue. “I ask everyone in our country to be equally effective for the sake of Ukraine,” Zelenskyy urged.
Thus, the president expects parliament to support seven bills that are intended to help Ukraine attract funding from partners and cover necessary state budget expenditures. The president made these remarks during an evening address on September 15.
