The Kyiv Regional Police quickly identified a young man who disregarded the ban on the use of fireworks during martial law.
The incident occurred in the village of Ivankiv, where the setting off of consumer fireworks led not only to a disturbance of the peace but also to a fire emergency.
A concerned local resident who heard the characteristic sounds of explosions reported the violation to law enforcement.
As the police determined, a 19-year-old man decided to have some fun near the river by setting off a sparkler.
As a result of the fireworks, sparks landed on dry vegetation, causing the grassy area to catch fire instantly.
Emergency response workers arrived at the scene immediately and extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading to a larger area.
Investigators from the Vyshhorod District Police Department have already launched a pre-trial investigation.
The young man’s actions have been classified as hooliganism accompanied by particular audacity and disrespect for society, in accordance with Part 1 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
