In Transcarpathia, a man kidnapped a woman and her child and fired at police officers
In Zakarpattia Oblast, law enforcement officers detained a man who had kidnapped a woman and a 3-year-old child and offered armed resistance.
This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.
The incident occurred in the Mukachevo district, where an argument broke out between the man and his 45-year-old acquaintance. Afterward, he forced the woman and the child into a car at gunpoint.
The perpetrator drove to the Berehove district, where he attempted to abduct another child and inflicted bodily harm on his own daughter.
During his arrest, the man fired a non-lethal pistol, wounding one of the police officers in the head, and also attempted to run over another officer with his car.
Despite this, law enforcement officers managed to apprehend him.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated regarding the incident under articles on kidnapping and attempted murder of a law enforcement officer. He faces up to life in prison.
