A monastery hermitage belonging to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) caught fire in Transcarpathia

A fire broke out at one of the monastic hermitages of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church—Moscow Patriarchate in the village of Hrushevo, Tyachiv District, Zakarpattia Oblast.

Rescue workers received a report of the fire on Monastyrska Street on August 18 at 5:31 p.m. The monastery’s clergy first noticed an unusual odor, and after smoke began to appear, they called the State Emergency Service.

By the time emergency responders arrived, the fire had engulfed a significant portion of the building and spread to the roof. Due to the plastic siding, the flames spread rapidly.
