A woman from the Odesa region who was making explosives for Russia will stand trial in the Zhytomyr region
According to the investigation, a 23-year-old resident of the Odesa region agreed to work for Russian intelligence agencies in exchange for money. The woman traveled to Zhytomyr, rented an apartment, and began assembling a homemade explosive device, but law enforcement officials managed to stop her activities. The indictment has already been submitted to the court.
Prosecutors from the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor’s Office have filed an indictment against a 23-year-old resident of the Odesa region. She is charged with high treason committed under martial law—under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. According to the investigation, the woman made contact with representatives of Russian intelligence agencies via the Telegram messaging app. She agreed to carry out their assignment in exchange for monetary compensation. According to law enforcement, a Russian handler instructed her to manufacture a homemade explosive device. The woman then began to carry out the instructions she received.
She traveled to Zhytomyr and began preparing the explosive
To carry out the task, the woman traveled to Zhytomyr. There, she rented an apartment and purchased the necessary components to build the explosive device. She then began assembling the device. According to the investigation, she was to receive further instructions from Russian intelligence regarding the location where the device was to be planted.
Law enforcement officers managed to stop her activities before she could carry out the plan. The woman’s illegal activities were halted by officers of the SBU Directorate in Zhytomyr Oblast. The pretrial investigation in the case was conducted by SBU investigators. The defendant is currently in custody.
What the accused faces
The woman is specifically accused of high treason committed under martial law. The final decision in the case will be made by the court.
