The cause of the explosion at a facility near Rivne has been identified
A gas cylinder exploded and caught fire during welding work at a facility near Rivne. Nine people were injured in the incident, two of whom are in critical condition.
This was reported by Oleksandr Koval, head of the Rivne Regional State Administration.
The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. on April 20; emergency responders quickly contained the fire. Authorities clarified that the facility where the explosion occurred is not related to chemical production. Medical personnel, law enforcement officers, and State Emergency Service specialists continue to work at the scene to determine all the circumstances. The injured are receiving necessary medical care at specialized facilities in the region. The situation is under the control of the regional administration and law enforcement agencies. The police have launched an investigation into compliance with workplace safety regulations. Accidental explosions caused by violations of technical standards remain a serious challenge to the safety of civilian facilities during martial law. Currently, there is no threat to the environment or residents of nearby settlements. Investigative proceedings are ongoing.
