In the Kherson region, a man was injured by a landmine while herding livestock

In the village of Mala Oleksandrivka, a 41-year-old local resident sustained serious injuries when an unidentified object exploded. The victim, who suffered a foot amputation, shrapnel wounds, and a concussion, was hospitalized in serious condition.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional State Administration.

The man was injured when he was herding livestock in an area where there is a high risk of landmines due to the aftermath of hostilities and Russian aggression. Doctors are currently fighting to save his life. According to the Ministry of Defense, the number of people injured by landmines in Ukraine reached 1,431 as of April, including 147 children. The level of mine contamination in the de-occupied territories remains critical, posing a constant threat to the civilian population. Regional authorities are urging residents to exercise extreme caution and avoid unexplored areas of fields, forest belts, and riverbanks. Specialists continue to clear the territories of mines, but the extent of contamination with explosive ordnance remains extremely high. Such incidents once again underscore the enduring danger left behind by the occupying forces. The rise in accident statistics highlights the need to strengthen mine safety measures in frontline zones.

As a reminder, a civilian vessel struck a Russian mine in the Black Sea.

Additionally, dozens of partner countries have joined Ukraine’s humanitarian demining coalition.
