Ukrzaliznytsia has refurbished its trains ahead of the summer season
In preparation for the summer travel season, Ukrzaliznytsia has readied over a thousand air-conditioned passenger cars to make travel more comfortable during the heat. Overall, most trips this summer will be operated in modernized cars equipped with cooling systems. Ukrzaliznytsia announced this on Facebook.
Ukrzaliznytsia announced extensive preparations for the summer travel season and reported that over a thousand passenger cars equipped with air conditioning are already ready for service, designed to provide more comfortable conditions for passengers during the hot season. The company emphasizes that work on preparing the rolling stock continued throughout the spring and covered all of the carrier’s depots.
As noted in the statement by JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia,” specialists conducted phased inspections of the air conditioning systems, refilled them with refrigerant, and modernized some of the cars that were not previously equipped with cooling systems, which allowed for an increase in the number of comfortable seats on the trains.
Separately, the company reported that high-capacity batteries were installed in 59 cars, which should improve the stability of the equipment during trips and ensure better system autonomy. “In total, 933 sleeper cars and 100 high-speed train cars are now fully prepared for the summer. This means that 71% of the cars currently in service are air-conditioned,” the carrier stated in an official announcement.
Ukrzaliznytsia also notes that air-conditioned cars are marked with a special “snowflake” icon in the mobile app and on the ticket sales website, so passengers are advised to pay attention to this when planning their trips.
At the same time, the company acknowledges that it is impossible to fully meet summer demand with modernized cars due to a shortage of rolling stock, so some trips will continue to operate under standard conditions, and passengers are advised to plan their trips in advance, especially during peak periods.
A new survey for military personnel regarding Ukrainian-made dry rations has been launched in the “Army+” app to understand how practical they are in real-world service conditions and what changes should be made.
