The NBU has issued new 10-hryvnia coins for two regions
On August 28, the National Bank of Ukraine put two new commemorative 10-hryvnia coins into circulation. They are dedicated to the Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovohrad regions and will gradually enter cash circulation.
The new coins are part of the “We Are Strong. We Are Together” series, which the National Bank has dedicated to Ukraine’s regions and their contributions to the country. The National Bank of Ukraine announced the release of the coins on August 28.
NBU Governor Andriy Pyshnyy noted that the Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovohrad regions have different characters and their own unique roles, but both regions work every day to support the country. “Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovohrad regions—each with its own character and role—but today both do tremendous work every day to support the country,” Pyshnyy said.
What the new coins look like
Both coins have a face value of 10 hryvnias. Their reverse features a stylized map of Ukraine with administrative boundaries. The territory of the respective region is highlighted separately on each coin. The coins are made of a zinc-based alloy with a nickel plating.
In total, the National Bank plans to gradually put 2 million coins of each type into circulation. Part of the mintage was packaged in special rolls of 25 coins each. Fifteen thousand such rolls were issued for each type of coin. These are not just souvenir coins. The new 10-hryvnia coins are legal tender, so they can be used to make payments just like regular coins of the same denomination. The National Bank will gradually distribute them to banks and cash-handling companies. From there, the coins will reach customers and enter cash circulation.
Where to Buy the Coins
For those who wish to collect the coins in this series, the National Bank has prepared specially designed rolls. They will be available for purchase at the NBU’s online numismatic store, as well as from participating banks.
“We Are Strong. We Are Together” Series
The National Bank launched the “We Are Strong. We Are Together” series in December 2025. The total mintage of the series was planned at 54 million coins. Previously, coins dedicated to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Kherson, Sumy, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, and Odesa regions had already been issued as part of the series.
Now, the Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovohrad regions have been added to the series. Thus, the new coins will gradually enter regular circulation. At the same time, a portion of the mintage has been issued in a special design for collectors. The regulator announced this on Friday.
