The Odesa region is asking the government to allow up to 80% of farmers to be exempted during harvest season

The Odesa region is asking the government to allow up to 80% of farmers to be exempted during harvest season

The Odesa Regional Military Administration is preparing an appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers requesting the introduction of flexible seasonal quotas for reserving agricultural workers. The proposal is to allow up to 80% of the workforce to be reserved for the fieldwork season.

According to representatives of the agricultural sector, the current 50% quota prevents them from fully carrying out the harvest due to an acute labor shortage. They emphasize that modern agricultural machinery requires skilled workers, and a shortage of personnel could lead to crop losses.

The Odesa Regional State Administration reported that it has already prepared new regional criteria for identifying critically important agricultural enterprises, which it plans to publish in the near future. The region also intends to appeal to the government with a proposal to introduce a seasonal increase in labor reservation quotas during the harvest period.

The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police dismantled a scheme in Zakarpattia to evade mobilization involving the fraudulent registration of fictitious military service reservations.

The Ministry of Health stated that, at the request of the Ministry of Defense, some of the reserved medical personnel may be released from their reservations and called up for service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military structures. The decision is made jointly with the military and regional authorities.
