Following searches by the State Bureau of Investigation, Marketopt refused to split into individual businesses

The popular grocery store chains "Marketopt" and "Optovychok" have officially announced the launch of a comprehensive reorganization of their accounting, reporting, and operational systems

The company’s management made this decision after the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine brought charges of tax evasion through artificial fragmentation of the business.

The retailer plans to completely overhaul its existing organizational and legal management structure and transition to operating through a single legal entity.

Company representatives highlighted their long history and emphasized their commitment to operating strictly within the law.

“The ‘Marketopt’ and ‘Optovychok’ grocery store chains have been operating in Ukraine’s retail market for a long time. We have always been aware of the importance of strict compliance with Ukrainian legislation, as well as the principles of transparent business conduct, fair competition, and proper interaction with government agencies,” the company stated.

At the same time, the press service expressed its own position regarding the substance of the claims made by law enforcement agencies.

The company stated that the practice of processing a single purchase using two separate fiscal receipts “is more indicative of gaps in Ukrainian legislation than of any attempt on our part to evade taxes.”

According to management, the investigative measures carried out by employees of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine merely highlighted the issue of the current lack of legislative regulation.

Despite differences in the assessment of past business practices, the retailer expressed its readiness for swift and decisive changes.

“The company fully shares and supports the position of the state and the Ukrainian Economic Security Bureau regarding the need for strict compliance with Ukrainian tax laws, ensuring transparency in business operations, and preventing any forms of artificial fragmentation of economic activity,” the statement reads.

Marketopt’s management openly acknowledged “that the previously existing model of organizing operational activities requires a significant transformation.”

Consequently, the company decided to implement a set of urgent measures.

These measures are aimed at fully bringing all internal business processes into strict compliance with the stringent requirements of the current Tax Code of Ukraine.

The Economic Security Bureau dismantled a large-scale illegal vape distribution network in Poltava

In Chernivtsi, detectives from the Economic Security Bureau exposed a group of individuals who had set up an illegal sale of vapes, e-liquids, and hookah tobacco without licenses or excise stamps, conducting a series of searches at ten locations across the city.

A large-scale special operation was conducted in Ukraine against the illegal market for vapes and e-cigarette liquids, during which nearly 300 searches took place in various regions of the country. Law enforcement officers seized products and equipment worth hundreds of millions of hryvnias and notified the suspects of the charges against them.
