Trains have not been running to Zaporizhzhia for three days now
Passenger rail service to Zaporizhzhia has been suspended for the third consecutive day for security reasons. Mykola Kalashnyk, Ukraine’s Minister of Recovery, Infrastructure, and Transport, announced this on Saturday.
“Unfortunately, for the third day in a row, passenger trains have not been running directly to Zaporizhzhia due to Russian attacks and the security situation,” he wrote on Telegram.
Following a coordination meeting attended by Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, and members of parliament, he reported that he had reviewed the implementation of measures to protect the railway infrastructure.
“Today, this is not only a matter of the security of individual facilities, but also of the country’s uninterrupted logistics,” he emphasized.
Tickets for passenger trains to the “Zaporizhzhia 1” station—specifically those arriving in the city on Sunday morning—are currently available for purchase on the website of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia.” There are no reports of any disruption to rail service to the city.
As previously reported, on Friday, the enemy struck a passenger train in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
“The monitoring team warned the train crew of the potential threat in time, so the railway workers and passengers were able to evacuate the cars. The UAV struck the locomotive,” Ukrzaliznytsia JSC reported.
As a reminder, due to repair work on the section near Nizhyn, the schedule for a number of commuter trains running between Kyiv and Nizhyn has been temporarily adjusted. Passengers are urged to take the updated schedule into account when planning their trips.
Earlier, Ukrzaliznytsia rerouted three trains through Stryi.
During the summer travel season, Ukrzaliznytsia passengers have been leaving personal belongings in train cars more frequently. The number of reports regarding lost property has exceeded 100 cases per day.
