The prosecutor's office is requesting that the suspect in Berezovskaya's murder be detained without the possibility of bail
The prosecutor’s office filed a motion with the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv requesting that Vladislav Reut be placed in pretrial detention for a period of 60 days without the possibility of bail. The man is suspected of murdering Anastasia Berezovskaya, who had previously been on Interpol’s international wanted list.
The prosecution is asking the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv to impose a pretrial detention measure on Vladislav Reut, the suspect in the murder of Anastasia Berezovskaya, for a period of 60 days, without the right to post bail. Prosecutor Dmytro Tkachuk made this statement during the court hearing.
“The prosecution concludes that the application of any other, less severe preventive measure not involving deprivation of liberty would be insufficient to prevent Reut from committing new criminal offenses, as he has already demonstrated disregard for criminal law. (...) I request that a pretrial measure in the form of 60 days of pretrial detention, without the right to post bail, be applied to the suspect Vladislav Reut,” Tkachuk said.
According to the investigation, on July 3, between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., Reut, driving a BMW X3, arrived at a coffee shop in the village of Bilohorodka, where another participant—Vitaliy Zhikovich—was waiting for him. They then drove to the 60 km + 120 road section, where Berezovska was waiting for them; she got into the back seat of the car.
“While driving… near the village of Yuriv, Zhikovich prepared the murder weapon, namely a firearm. Upon arriving at a wooded area… Zhikovich distracted the victim while Reut was to carry out the murder. After that, Reut took a pistol from the car and fired at least two shots at her head,” said prosecutor Dmytro Tkachuk.
Tkachuk stated that on July 6, Reut filed a statement with law enforcement authorities in which he reported that he and Zhikovych had committed the premeditated murder of Berezovska.
“Reut’s witness testimony from July 6, provided as part of another criminal proceeding, in which he described the circumstances of his acquaintance with Zhikovych—whom he knew as an SBU employee who had been dismissed in April 2026—and his collaboration with him. He also described the events that took place on July 3,” Tkachuk added.
According to him, after the murder, personal belongings and a pistol were thrown into a body of water. The prosecutor also noted that during a search of the vehicle, a number of license plates—both Ukrainian and foreign—were seized.
“The circumstances revealed give reason to believe that these license plates could have been used to conceal their movements, both while traveling to the meeting place with Berezovska and on the return trip after her murder. The very fact that such a large number of license plates was found directly indicates the systematic nature of the measures they took to conceal the crime and avoid having the vehicle identified,” Tkachuk noted.
The hearing to determine a preventive measure for Vladislav Reut — the suspect in the murder of Anastasia Berezovskaya, who was suspected of attempting to assassinate businessman Vadim Yermolayev in Monaco — is taking place at the Pechersk District Court in Kyiv, according to a UNN correspondent.
