The IAEA Board of Governors condemned Russia's attacks on Ukraine's nuclear facilities

During a meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors, 47 states and the European Union condemned Russia’s actions regarding Ukraine’s nuclear infrastructure. In particular, the meeting participants condemned the attack on Ukraine’s Centralized Spent Fuel Storage Facility, located near the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant

“The message is clear: Russia continues to undermine nuclear safety and security through its illegal war against Ukraine,” Sibiga wrote.

He thanked partners for their unwavering support and called for measures to stop Russia’s nuclear blackmail.

“It is time to increase pressure on the aggressor so that it stops attacking the Ukrainian civilian population and nuclear infrastructure and returns the Zaporizhzhia NPP to its rightful owner—Ukraine,” Sibiga emphasized.

Today, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Energy Anatoliy Kutsevol participated in a meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, where he briefed international partners on the current security situation surrounding Ukrainian nuclear facilities.

Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga reported this on the social media platform X.

The IAEA warned of increased military activity near Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
