Russia is interested in a prolonged war between the U.S. and Israel against Iran, says Zelenskyy

Russia is seeking to prolong the conflict between the U.S. and Israel against Iran, as this situation benefits the Kremlin.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this in an interview with the American publication Axios.

“I am certain that Russia wants a prolonged war (in the Middle East — ed.). They benefit from it: the U.S. is focused on the Middle East and may reduce military aid to Ukraine. Sanctions have been partially lifted. I see only benefits for Russia in the continuation of the war with Iran,” Zelensky emphasized.

When asked if he was concerned that a prolonged war in Iran would hinder arms deliveries to Ukraine, the President replied: “I’m not just concerned; I’m certain we’ll face such challenges. Absolutely.”

The head of state also expressed concern over the U.S. decision to lift sanctions related to the sale of Russian oil in response to the energy crisis.

“If they (the Russians—ed.) are now getting more money from energy resources, that won’t help us,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also stated that the Donald Trump administration could increase pressure on Kyiv, demanding territorial concessions to end the war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed serious concern over the U.S. administration’s approach to ending the war with Russia.

As a reminder, Zelenskyy discussed security coordination in Europe with the President of Finland.

Zelenskyy also explained why the trilateral meeting with Russia is falling through.
