Belarus has launched a balloon to boost the signal of Russian drones

On the evening of May 2, an aerial object was detected over Belarusian territory; it was identified as a relay balloon. This device is designed to amplify the signal of Russian weapons used to shell Ukrainian territory.

This was reported by State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andriy Demchenko during a televised broadcast.

Border guards emphasize that the threat from the Belarusian direction remains constant. Defense forces are preparing for possible attempts to destabilize the situation at the border and do not rule out new provocations. Specific activity on the part of the neighboring state confirms Russia’s intentions to use this area for waging war.

At this time, details regarding other potential threats are not being disclosed for security reasons. The Ukrainian side continues to monitor the border and is taking measures to neutralize such objects. The use of balloons is one of the methods employed to support the operation of enemy unmanned aerial systems.

Russia may have instructed Belarus to keep Ukrainian forces “on edge” ahead of new attacks in the east and south. This is according to the Center for Countering Disinformation. At the same time, Ukraine is observing troop activity and the preparation of positions near the border.

The situation on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border remains stable: currently, there is no observed deployment of additional equipment or increase in troop numbers from the Belarusian side. State Border Service spokesperson Andriy Demchenko emphasized that intelligence and border units are monitoring the situation around the clock to respond promptly to any potential provocations.
