Warm weather is returning to Ukraine starting May 3

Warmer weather is gradually returning to Ukraine. Starting Monday, daytime temperatures will rise, and there will be almost no precipitation, according to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.

On Sunday, May 3, Ukraine will be dry—with no rain in most regions. Winds will be moderate, mostly from the southwest, and in the southeast—from the northeast, up to 10 m/s.

The night will remain cool. Temperatures will drop to 1–6°C, and ground frosts down to -3°C are possible in some areas. It will become more comfortable during the day: the air will warm up to 11–16°C, and in the west and most northern regions—to 16–21°C. No precipitation is expected in Kyiv either. Nighttime temperatures will be around 6–8°C, and daytime temperatures will be 17–19°C.

Forecasters note that on May 3, the capital has previously experienced both extreme heat and cold. “The highest daytime temperature was 30.2° in 2018, and the lowest nighttime temperature was -1.2° in 1885,” reports the Central Geophysical Observatory.

On Monday, May 4, the weather will remain mostly dry. Only in the southeast is rain possible during the day. Winds will be light and variable, but may strengthen to 12 m/s in the east. Temperatures will continue to rise. Overnight, temperatures will range from 3–8°F, though ground frost is still possible in the east. During the day, temperatures will reach 14–19°F, and up to 23°F in the west and north.

In Kyiv, Monday promises to be even warmer: no rain, with daytime temperatures of 20–22°C. Forecasters say this weather is more like classic spring—cool nights, but pleasant.

Warm weather is gradually arriving in Ukraine—daytime temperatures will rise to +18 degrees, especially in the west of the country. At the same time, frosts persist at night, which can affect plants and the soil.
