Ukrzaliznytsia is changing its ticket refund policy

Starting May 2, Ukrzaliznytsia is introducing new rules for refunding tickets on domestic routes—a sliding scale for refunds will now be in effect.

This was reported by Ukrzaliznytsia.

Under the new rules, the refund amount will depend on how early the passenger returns the ticket: the closer to the departure date, the smaller the percentage of the fare that will be refunded.

Specifically:
— 100% of the cost is refunded 15–20 days before the trip;
— 90–95% 10–14 days before;
— 75% 5–9 days before;
— 50% 1–4 days before;
— less than one day before — only a portion of the cost (excluding transportation).

For military personnel purchasing tickets through the “Army+” service, a full refund is available up until the train’s departure.

The company explains that the new system is intended to encourage early ticket returns, make transportation planning more efficient, and reduce opportunities for resale speculation.

Ukrzaliznytsia plans to receive its first Alstom UA8AC electric locomotive in the first quarter of 2027, with a total of 55 such locomotives expected to be delivered by the end of 2029.

Ukrzaliznytsia has launched online sales of discounted student tickets.
