Zelenskyy presented awards to soldiers of the State Special Communications Service
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy honored the personnel of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection on the occasion of their professional holiday, emphasizing their key role in ensuring the functioning of the state during the war. The servicemen received state awards in recognition of their daily work on the front lines of communications, cyber defense, and information security.
During the celebrations, the head of state thanked the State Special Communications Service specialists for the stable communications and protection of information systems they have provided since the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion. “Among them are those who intercept ‘Shaheds’ and operate drones, provide communications for the state and the Defense Forces, and strengthen Ukraine’s cybersecurity,” Zelenskyy noted.
The president also presented Major General epaulets to the head of the State Special Communications Service, Oleksandr Potii, noting his contribution to the development of the service and the organization of the agency’s work under wartime conditions.
Today, the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine celebrates its professional holiday, which was established in 2021 to mark the service’s creation in 2006 from units of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
The State Special Communications Service is responsible for government communications, cybersecurity, cryptographic protection of information, and the security of state communications, and the total number of specialists in the system exceeds 11,000, most of whom are military personnel working daily to protect Ukraine’s digital and information space.
On Monday, May 25, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will hold an official meeting with members of parliament from the “Servant of the People” parliamentary faction.
