"This week, Russia launched about 1,600 drones, nearly 1,100 guided missiles, and three rockets at Ukraine," said Zelenskyy

Over the past week, Russia has launched massive strikes against Ukraine, using approximately 1,600 drones, nearly 1,100 guided bombs, and several missiles. Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the enemy is attempting to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defense systems and continues to attack civilian areas. The shelling has resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this on Telegram.

Russia continues systematic, massive attacks on Ukrainian territory, increasing the number of strike assets and deliberately targeting various regions of the country. In just one week, according to Ukrainian authorities, the enemy deployed thousands of drones and hundreds of guided aerial bombs, without reducing the intensity of shelling, even against civilian targets.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that over the course of seven days, Russia launched approximately 1,600 attack drones, nearly 1,100 guided aerial bombs, and three missiles. According to him, this tactic aims to overload Ukraine’s air defense system and deplete its defense resources. “In just this week, Russia has launched about 1,600 attack drones, nearly 1,100 guided aerial bombs, and three missiles at Ukraine,” the head of state noted.

Zelenskyy emphasized that a steady supply of air defense systems remains critically important every day, as they are what allow us to mitigate the effects of massive attacks. He also stressed the need to maintain sanctions pressure on Russia, as any easing, he said, directly funds the war.

The president thanked international partners and teams working on new sanctions packages and on blocking schemes to circumvent restrictions. He also reported on further strikes on civilian regions and casualties among the population.

In particular, he said that in the morning in Kherson, a Russian FPV drone struck a minibus, injuring seven people and killing two. In Kharkiv, a drone struck a residential high-rise building; strikes on energy infrastructure in the Mykolaiv region were also recorded, and the Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Sumy, Kherson, and Donetsk regions came under fire. “All those injured during the attack were civilians, and the Russians knew this for sure. In fact, such a brutal ‘safari’ against people takes place every day in our frontline and border communities,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

Additionally, over the past 24 hours, Russian forces carried out 857 strikes on the Zaporizhzhia region. Dozens of settlements came under fire. In the Zaporizhzhia district, three people were wounded, and there is damage to housing and infrastructure.

Additionally, in Kharkiv overnight, a Russian drone struck a high-rise building and flew directly into an apartment on the 12th floor. The munition did not explode, but two people were injured. Residents of the building were evacuated, and all emergency services were on the scene.

On the night of May 2, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with over 160 drones of various types. Air defense forces neutralized most of the targets, but some drones still reached their targets. The attack continued into the morning, with enemy UAVs remaining in the air.
