Syrsky supported the idea of uniforms with Kevlar protection for the military

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi has instructed officials to address the issue of providing soldiers with uniforms featuring Kevlar inserts, following a request from commanders of combat units.

This was reported on Saturday, May 2, by Dmytro Lykhoviy, spokesperson for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in a comment to the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.

“The Armed Forces of Ukraine are responding to new challenges of war, particularly regarding the protection of service members. Commanders of combat units appealed to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with a request to consider the possibility of providing our soldiers with uniforms featuring Kevlar inserts. The proposal was supported. The Commander-in-Chief ordered the Commander of the Logistics Forces to address this issue,” the spokesperson said.

Lykhovyi noted that Kevlar incorporated into military clothing preserves the soldier’s mobility, complements the standard body armor, and covers unprotected areas of the body, providing an additional level of protection against shrapnel.

“Under current combat conditions, bullet wounds account for a minimal proportion. Instead, the majority of injuries are caused by shrapnel, so additional anti-shrapnel protection becomes a top priority,” the General Staff explained.

As the spokesperson emphasized, in light of this, a proposal has been made to consider expanding the provision of uniforms and protective gear with Kevlar inserts to Ukrainian Armed Forces units, primarily those of domestic production.

Earlier, Syrskyi inspected the defenses along the Kostyantynivka sector.

Recall that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine made personnel decisions regarding the command of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade following media coverage of the critical situation regarding the supply of troops in the Kupiansk direction.

Prior to this, information appeared on social media about an allegedly critical situation regarding the supply of soldiers from the 14th Brigade’s 2nd Mechanized Battalion, who are stationed at their positions without sufficient food and water.

Earlier, Ukrainian intelligence intercepted a conversation between Russian Armed Forces servicemen complaining about critical problems with food and water supplies at their positions. This indicates serious difficulties with logistical support for Russian units.
