The Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office is requesting 200 million hryvnias in bail for Kropiva, a top official at the Office of the Prosecutor General
During a hearing at the High Anti-Corruption Court, a prosecutor from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office requested that Serhiy Kropiva, deputy head of the Department of International Cooperation at the Office of the Prosecutor General, be placed in pretrial detention as a preventive measure. As an alternative, the investigation proposes setting bail at 200 million hryvnias.
“I request that the suspect be placed in pretrial detention, with the alternative of bail set at 200 million hryvnias,” the prosecutor read from the motion.
Serhiy Kropiva is accused of covering up the activities of fraudulent call centers. During the consideration of the motion, the prosecution emphasized the risk that he might abscond from pretrial investigation authorities and influence witnesses.
This information came to light during a court hearing on the selection of a pretrial measure at the High Anti-Corruption Court.
Earlier, it was reported that NABU and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) are conducting a large-scale special operation at the Office of the Prosecutor General in a case involving the possible “protection” of fraudulent call centers.
Prosecutor General Kravchenko disappeared after the NABU and SAP operation began. According to sources in political circles speaking to UP, Kravchenko drove into the government quarter, after which no one saw him.
Later, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko resurfaced and stated that he had no connection whatsoever to the cover-up of illegal call centers and had not issued any instructions to facilitate their operations.
