The SAP has entered into a plea agreement with a representative of Deputy Galushchenko

Businessman Serhiy Pylypchuk, who is implicated in the case involving Oleksandr Heyl, a former deputy to Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko, has agreed to cooperate with the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. Pylypchuk is the third person involved in the scheme to agree to a plea deal, following Serhiy Kobilyatskyi and Yevhen Lut.

This was reported by the Anti-Corruption Action Center.

According to investigators, as Heyl’s trusted associate, Pylypchuk participated in extorting $500,000 for the evacuation of coal mining equipment from Pokrovsk. The group was detained during the handover of the third installment of the bribe, after which the deputy minister was dismissed and taken into custody. The terms of the plea deal with Pylypchuk will be made public after the High Anti-Corruption Court issues its decision. Currently, the main defendant in the case is being held in pretrial detention with bail set at 200 million hryvnias. Thus, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office continues to strengthen its evidence base through the testimony of direct participants in the corruption scheme. The process of approving plea agreements in this case is considered a key step toward a future sentence for the former official. The situation remains under the control of anti-corruption authorities.

Earlier, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office filed an indictment against former Deputy Minister of Energy Oleksandr Heyl.

Following reports of Heyl’s bribery, the Ministry of Energy submitted a request to the Cabinet of Ministers for his dismissal, and the government approved the request.
