The SBU and the National Police have uncovered five channels for the illegal sale of weapons
Law enforcement officers detained the organizers of an illegal trade in weapons, ammunition, and explosives in the Poltava, Donetsk, Zakarpattia, and Zhytomyr regions, as well as in Odesa.
In the Poltava region, a man attempted to sell a “trophy” arsenal worth nearly 1 million hryvnias. Authorities seized 23 RPGs, over a thousand grenade rounds, and 17 grenades from him.
Other items seized included Kalashnikov assault rifles, hundreds of grenade rounds, grenades, TNT, gunpowder, and nearly 8,000 rounds of ammunition. In Odesa, a 16-year-old boy was also detained while attempting to sell a grenade and homemade explosive devices.
All suspects have been notified of charges of illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, and explosive substances. They face up to seven years in prison.
