The SBU detained a Russian agent who was guiding jet drones toward Kharkiv in real time
The Security Service of Ukraine’s Counterintelligence Directorate detained a Russian spotter involved in the large-scale shelling of Kharkiv on April 2. The suspect was guiding new Russian “Geran-3” kamikaze drones toward the city in real time.
This was reported on the SBU’s Telegram channel.
SBU officers apprehended the suspect “red-handed” in a city park while she was livestreaming the second wave of UAV strikes on residential buildings in the regional center. At the scene, a smartphone with remote access for Russian intelligence officers was seized from the detainee. Using the device, Russian forces guided the “Geran” drones toward Kharkiv residents’ apartment buildings.

As the investigation established, a local resident recruited by the enemy was coordinating the airstrike. She came to the occupiers’ attention due to her own pro-Russian comments on Telegram channels. Following instructions from her handler in Russia, the agent went to document the aftermath of the shelling immediately after the nighttime attack on the frontline city.

That same day, she received the following task: to film Russian drones during daytime strikes on Kharkiv. In this way, the Russians attempted to assess the effectiveness of their drones and pinpoint the positions of Ukrainian air defense systems.
It has been established that the agent received approximate directions of the airstrikes from her handler so she could arrive at the “position” in advance and record the shelling online.
As a reminder, an FSB agent who was coordinating Russian attacks on energy facilities was exposed and detained in the Vinnytsia region. The woman was gathering information on power generation facilities and transmitting the coordinates to the enemy.
Earlier, the SBU and the National Police thwarted another attempt by Russian special services to destabilize the situation in Kyiv. This time, an FSB agent was detained in the center of the capital while preparing to set fire to the building of the Institute of National Memory of Ukraine.
A Russian agent operating in the Kirovohrad region was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. Acting on orders from the Russian Federation, the perpetrator attempted to install a GPS tracker on a special vehicle accompanying convoys of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
