A court sentenced a Kharkiv-based spotter for Russian shelling to 15 years in prison

Another Russian agent, who was exposed in August 2025 by SBU cybersecurity experts and investigators for coordinating airstrikes on Kharkiv, was sentenced to 15 years in prison with full confiscation of his property.

This was reported by the SBU press service, which published details of the investigation and the court verdict.

The panel of judges officially found the perpetrator guilty under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law).

Counterintelligence officers caught the enemy collaborator “red-handed” as he was directly preparing a new list of geographical coordinates for potential targets for his handler in the Russian Federation.

The investigation established that a local auto mechanic was responsible for planning and directing enemy strikes. The man independently sought out representatives of Russian special services, using specialized Telegram channels for this purpose.

The convicted man was directly involved in coordinating the massive shelling of the regional center carried out by the occupiers in June 2025. At that time, Russian troops attacked Kharkiv with “Geran-2” kamikaze drones.

As a result of that enemy attack, high-rise residential buildings, a local educational institution, a supermarket, and private vehicles sustained significant damage.

Immediately after the airstrike ended, the agent quickly surveyed the impact sites. He did this to document the extent of the damage in detail and “report” to his handler in the aggressor country.

Investigators determined that his handler was a career military officer from the 2nd Separate Special Forces Brigade (Russian military intelligence) of the Leningrad Military District of the Russian Federation.
