50,000 schoolchildren will get renovated cafeterias: the government has allocated an additional 350 million hryvnias
The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated an additional 350 million hryvnias for the modernization of school cafeterias as part of the state program to develop food infrastructure in educational institutions.
This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
According to her, this is the fourth and final stage of the distribution of state subsidies. In total, 1 billion hryvnias will be allocated for the implementation of 73 projects in 15 regions of Ukraine.
It is expected that thanks to the modernization of food service facilities and cafeterias, approximately 50,000 schoolchildren will be able to receive high-quality hot lunches.
As Svyrydenko noted, the selection of projects took place through the DREAM and AIKOM digital systems, which automatically ranked applications according to established priority criteria.
The final decision on funding was made by a commission of the Ministry of Education and Science with the participation of independent experts, including representatives of the European Union Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine.
Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated 1.6 billion hryvnias for the purchase of 460 school buses. Thanks to the grant, communities will be able to purchase new vehicles or replace those destroyed as a result of the war.
In the Kharkiv region, six underground schools are under construction, with another 16 such projects in the planning stages.
