A new bus route to the Pirogov Museum is launching in Kyiv
A new bus route to the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine in Pirogovo is launching in Kyiv. Bus No. 58 will begin operating on May 30—the very day the “Kobzar Trinity” festival kicks off. This was reported by “Kyivpastrans.”
Starting Friday, May 30, a new bus route No. 58, “Exhibition Center Metro Station — National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine,” will begin operating in the capital. Kyivpastrans announced the launch.
The new route was organized to make it easier for people to get to the museum in Pirogovo, especially during major events and festivals. The traditional “Kobzar Trinity” festival, which attracts many visitors every year, kicks off there this weekend.
Buses will run along the following route: “Exhibition Center” metro station — Akademika Glushkova Avenue — Akademika Zabolotnogo Street — Akademika Tronka Street — National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine — Akademika Tronka Street — Akademika Zabolotnoho Street — Akademika Glushkova Avenue — Vasylkivska Street — “Vystavkovyi Tsentr” metro station.
Kyivpastrans noted that the bus schedule will be published on the company’s official resources. The new bus will begin service on the opening day of the “Kobzar Trinity” festival, which traditionally takes place at the open-air museum in Pirogovo.
The festival begins on May 30 at 10:00 a.m. Throughout the day, kobzars, lirnyks, and bandura players from various regions of Ukraine will perform on the museum grounds. Guests will be able to hear ancient dumas, folk songs, and traditional melodies. The organizers say that the main idea of the festival is to showcase the living Ukrainian musical tradition, which has been passed down through generations.
“Kobzar Trinity” has long been one of the most famous cultural events at the Pirogovo Museum. Every year, not only Kyiv residents but also tourists from other cities come here. The organizers have prepared several themed locations and events for guests. The festival program includes:
- a grand concert featuring kobzars, lirnyks, and bandura players;
- traditional kobzar performances throughout the open-air museum;
- workshops on making kobzar instruments;
- stories about the traditions of Klechalna Saturday;
- musical performances at the Singing Field.
A separate festival map has also been created for visitors to help them navigate between the museum’s various locations. Organizers are expecting a large number of guests, so a new bus route should help avoid traffic issues near the museum.
The National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine is one of the largest open-air museums in Europe. It is often simply called “Pyrohiv.” The museum grounds feature a collection of historic Ukrainian houses, churches, mills, and farm buildings from various regions of the country. Festivals, fairs, concerts, and folk celebrations are regularly held here.
It attracts particularly large crowds in the spring and summer. On weekends, it’s often difficult to reach the museum by public transit without transfers, so launching a new route could be a convenient solution for visitors. On social media, Kyiv residents have already reacted positively to the news about the bus to Pirogovo. Many write that a direct route has been sorely lacking for a long time, especially during major festivals.
The company explains that the route is being launched to improve transportation links between the metro and the museum. “The bus will help passengers get to the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine faster and more comfortably,” Kyivpastrans noted. Whether the route will become permanent after the festival has not yet been announced.
