Zelenskyy appointed Zavitnevich and Marchenko to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reshuffled the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff, appointing two new officials to the team.
The corresponding decree No. 445/2026 was signed by the head of state, according to the Office of the President of Ukraine.
According to the document, the following individuals have been included in the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff:
- Oleksandr Zavitnevych — Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence
- Serhiy Marchenko — Minister of Finance of Ukraine
Thus, the composition of the Headquarters has been updated by expanding the representation of the parliamentary committee on security and the government’s financial bloc.
The decree states that the document takes effect upon its publication.
The Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Headquarters is the highest coordinating body in Ukraine’s defense system, responsible for making key decisions under martial law.
Prior to this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the results of a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Headquarters, where three key issues were discussed.
Ukraine hopes that the European Union will open all six negotiation clusters regarding the country’s accession as early as this year, and also anticipates the possibility of closing at least one of them by the end of the year.
