The SBU detained a 17-year-old Russian military intelligence agent in Dnipro
The Security Service of Ukraine’s Counterintelligence Directorate detained a 17-year-old local resident in Dnipro who was directing Russian airstrikes on the city at his father’s behest.
According to the SBU, the young man identified the locations of industrial facilities that could be fulfilling defense contracts and transmitted their coordinates and photographs. His father, who also served as a spotter, was detained earlier, in January 2026.
SBU investigators informed the minor that he is suspected of treason committed by a group of individuals acting in concert under martial law.
According to the investigation, the detainee drove around a frontline city and reported to his father on enterprises that, in his opinion, were producing weapons. The gathered information was transmitted to a resident of an intelligence group in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia Oblast to prepare new shelling of Dnipro. During searches, a smartphone and a flash drive containing evidence of his work for the Russian GRU were seized from the suspect. Currently, the suspect is being held in custody without the right to bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property. SBU officers took measures to secure locations that were potential enemy targets.
