The average pension in Ukraine has exceeded 7,200 hryvnia
The average pension in Ukraine continues to rise, but the number of pensioners has decreased by more than one million in recent years. At the same time, nearly half of pension recipients continue to live on payments of up to 5,000 UAH.
As of July 1, 2026, there were approximately 10 million pensioners in Ukraine. The average pension exceeded 7,200 UAH, whereas in 2025 it stood at 6,400 UAH, and in 2021—about 3,800 UAH.
According to official data, 44.6% of pensioners receive up to 5,000 UAH per month. At the same time, about 18% receive pensions exceeding 10,000 UAH.
Experts attribute the rise in the average pension to the indexation of payments, higher social standards, and the availability of special pensions for certain categories of citizens. Old-age pensioners make up the largest share of recipients—over 72%.
