Scammers Are Blackmailing Ukrainian Businesses with "Shahed" Attacks — Flash
Ukrainian companies have begun receiving anonymous letters from people who call themselves “the owners of the Shaheeds.” They are allegedly demanding money in exchange for a promise not to attack business facilities with drones. Serhiy “Flash” Beskrestnov urged business owners not to believe such messages and not to fall for manipulation.
Serhiy “Flash” Beskrestnov, the presidential advisor on the development of defense technologies, spoke about this new scheme. According to him, Ukrainian business representatives have begun receiving anonymous messages demanding payment. The authors of the letters call themselves “the owners of the Shaheeds” and promise that, once payment is made, the drones will allegedly not attack the businesses.
“Businesses have begun receiving anonymous letters from the ‘owners of the Shaheeds’ offering to spare business facilities from ‘Shaheed’ attacks in exchange for payment,” Beskrestnov said. In this way, the unknown individuals are attempting to exploit business owners’ fear of Russian attacks and potential strikes on their facilities.
“Flash” urged businesses not to pay
Beskrestnov emphasized that businesses should not trust such letters or comply with the demands of their authors. He called such messages manipulative and urged business owners not to fall for them. “I hope everyone has the wisdom not to believe this nonsense,” the presidential adviser said.
However, Beskrestnov’s statement does not reveal who exactly is behind the mailings or how many companies have already received such letters. Business owners who have received such demands should save the messages and other evidence of the mailing and refrain from transferring money to unknown individuals. In the event of threats or extortion related to the incident, they should also notify law enforcement. This was reported by Serhiy “Flash” Beskrestnov.
