In the Rivne region, a man forged a document to defer his mobilization using ChatGPT
The Sarny District Court found a resident of the Rivne region guilty of forging and using a forged document. The man attempted to obtain a deferment from mobilization by submitting a fake certificate of his wife’s disability to the Administrative Services Center.
As the court established, the man used ChatGPT and a graphics editor to create the forged certificate from the Medical and Social Expertise Commission (MSEC).
The document stated that his wife had allegedly been assigned a permanent Group II disability.
The man then printed the forged certificate at home to use it as proof to support his request for a deferment.
On February 17, 2026, the man submitted an application to the Sarny City Council’s Administrative Services Center requesting a deferment from mobilization.
He attached a copy of the forged MSEC certificate to his application.
In this way, the man attempted to use the forged document to substantiate the circumstances that would entitle him to a deferment.
During the trial, the defendant fully admitted his guilt.
The court took into account his sincere remorse, his active cooperation in solving the case, and the fact that he had no prior criminal record.
As a result, the Sarny District Court fined him 17,000 hryvnias.
A resident of Lviv was sentenced to three years in prison for evading conscription during mobilization. The man, whom a military medical commission had deemed fit for service, refused to accept his draft notice and failed to report to the assembly point.
As a reminder, Ukraine currently has no plans to lower the upper age limit for mobilization to 55. At the same time, the Office of the President supports the idea of a clear and understandable term of military service, as well as a gradual transition to a contract-based army.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine need to mobilize at least 30,000 people every month, said Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Office of the President. He also acknowledged that this number is large and that changing the approach to conscription is unlikely to reduce the actual need for personnel.
Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Office of the President, stated that he personally tried to negotiate with Russia to stop long-range strikes. According to him, no agreement was reached, and instead, the situation only escalated.
