Schools may verify students' military registration status — Ministry of Defense

Ukrainian schools have the right to verify whether students of draft age have military registration documents, but they cannot require that these be submitted exclusively in paper form.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The ministry explained that educational institutions are required to maintain personal military records in accordance with government requirements. Document verification typically takes place upon admission to high school or before submitting applications to universities.

At the same time, an electronic military registration document has the same legal force as a paper one. It can be presented via digital services or as a printout with a QR code.

The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that the requirement to provide a paper document when an electronic one is available is illegal.

Young men turning 17 are required to register for military service. This can be done both online via digital services and in person at a regional recruitment center.

After registration, the data is automatically reflected in digital systems, and verification in schools can be carried out by scanning a QR code or by contacting the relevant authorities.

On April 21, the Security Service of Ukraine detained military personnel from one of the district territorial recruitment and social support centers in Odesa.

It is reported that the detention of TCC representatives took place on Balkivska Street and involved a chase and gunfire.
