Forecasters are predicting thunderstorms with hail and squalls in Ukraine on July 8

On Wednesday, July 8, weather conditions in Ukraine are expected to deteriorate due to the movement of an active atmospheric front from Western Europe, associated with a cyclone over the Baltic Sea

According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, the country will be cloudy with some sunny intervals, with short-lived rains of varying intensity accompanied by thunderstorms, and hail and squalls are possible in some areas.

During the day, thunderstorms are expected across most of the country, except for the western regions and the far east. At the same time, heavy rain is forecast in some parts of the southern, central, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions, and in certain areas, hail and gusty winds reaching 15–20 m/s are expected. Only in the southeastern part of the country is no precipitation expected overnight. Winds will be predominantly southwesterly, shifting to westerly, at 7–12 m/s; however, strong gusts of up to 15–20 m/s are possible during the day in the western and northern regions.

The arrival of cooler air from the west will cause daytime temperatures to drop. Across Ukraine, nighttime temperatures are expected to range from 14 to 19 degrees, while daytime temperatures will reach 24 to 29 degrees. At the same time, it will be noticeably cooler in the western regions, Vinnytsia Oblast, and most northern regions—ranging from 19 to 24 degrees during the day.

In Kyiv and the Kyiv region, July 8 will also be cloudy with some sunny intervals. Forecasters predict brief showers and thunderstorms, which will occur only in some areas overnight. The westerly wind will blow at 7–12 m/s, but gusts of up to 15–20 m/s are expected during the day. Temperatures in the capital will range from 16 to 18 degrees at night, while daytime highs will reach 20 to 22 degrees. Across the entire Kyiv region, temperatures are forecast to range from 14 to 19 degrees at night and from 19 to 24 degrees during the day.

The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center reported this on Facebook.

As a reminder, experts at the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center analyzed the climatic characteristics of July in Ukraine and outlined preliminary weather trends for the second month of summer. According to their estimates, July may continue to show higher-than-normal temperatures.
