Syrsky Responded to Fedorov's Resignation and Addressed the Ukrainian People

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi commented on the dismissal of Mykhailo Fedorov from the post of defense minister. He emphasized that the state’s top priorities must remain the war, support for the army, and the implementation of an effective strategy to defeat Russia—not internal disputes.

Syrskyi also publicly addressed the former defense minister, thanking him for his work and emphasizing the importance of unity during this difficult time for the country.

“I am proud that, thanks to the Kyiv Defense Operation in 2022, we managed to defend our capital. And now, briefings can be held, visions can be formulated, and decisions can be made in this city,” the commander-in-chief stated, alluding to the briefing by Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov in the capital on July 16.

Against this backdrop, Syrskyi promised that he would do everything possible to ensure that such events could take place in a free and independent Ukraine.

In his view, to achieve this, Ukrainians and the government need to focus on the war and on an effective strategy that is currently yielding concrete results.

I thank Mykhailo Fedorov for his work as Ukraine’s Minister of Defense. I hope he will remain part of Ukraine’s team. Together to Victory!” Syrskyi concluded.

This was stated by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, citing his post on Telegram.

Fedorov accused Syrskyi of blocking the Ministry of Defense’s initiatives.

Deputy Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force Pavlo Yelizarov announced that he had submitted his resignation.

Mykhailo Fedorov, summarizing his work as defense minister, reported that a successful test of a Ukrainian ballistic missile took place on July 14.

Following his decision to resign, Mykhailo Fedorov issued his first statement, in which he summarized his work and identified the tasks that had not been fully accomplished.
