President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he will soon discuss the overhaul of Ukraine’s diplomatic missions abroad with Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, and his diplomatic team. According to him, embassies must operate much more effectively.

The head of state stated that a major overhaul awaits Ukrainian diplomatic missions. Details of the upcoming changes have not yet been disclosed.

 

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced preparations for a major overhaul of the operations of Ukrainian embassies abroad. The head of state made this statement while commenting on further steps to improve the diplomatic service.

According to the president, he will hold a separate meeting in the near future with Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, and representatives of the diplomatic team. “Tomorrow we will discuss with Kyrylo Budanov and our diplomatic team the restructuring of Ukrainian diplomatic missions abroad,” Zelenskyy said.

The president emphasized that Ukrainian diplomatic missions must operate as effectively as possible and respond to modern challenges. “Ukrainian embassies must be highly effective, and they will be,” the head of state stressed. Zelenskyy has not yet specified exactly what changes to expect. It is also unclear whether this involves personnel decisions, changes to the operational format of diplomatic missions, or a reform of the entire system of foreign missions.

At this point, it is known only that the issue of the effectiveness of Ukrainian embassies will be one of the topics of a separate meeting attended by the president, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, and representatives of the diplomatic corps. Based on the results of this meeting, specific decisions regarding the work of Ukrainian missions abroad may be announced. This was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Ivan Vyhivsky was dismissed from his post as head of the National Police of Ukraine on July 16. While a new head has not yet been appointed, First Deputy Maksym Tsutsikiridze will serve as acting head.
