A police officer who struck a mother and her child at a crosswalk is on trial in Pryluky
On April 6, 2026, the Pryluky City and District Court of Chernihiv Oblast began hearing the merits of a criminal case against a police officer. She was driving a police vehicle that was involved in a traffic accident at a crosswalk, resulting in the death of a 6-year-old girl.

The indictment was read in court by Deputy Prosecutor General Viktor Logachov, who heads the team of prosecutors in this case.
The court determined the order of evidence examination and proceeded to review the evidence. At this stage, all written materials from the prosecution have already been examined.
The defendant remains in custody. The next hearing is scheduled for April 20. The court will proceed to the examination of witnesses.
As previously reported by the prosecutor’s office, the police officer is charged with violating traffic safety rules, which resulted in the death of a child and bodily injury to her mother (Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
This refers to an accident that occurred on December 10, 2025, at approximately 11:44 a.m. in Pryluky on Vyacheslav Chornovil Street. According to the investigation, a police vehicle, while responding to a call regarding another traffic accident, struck a woman and her child who were crossing the road at a regulated crosswalk.
As a result of the collision, a 6-year-old girl died at the scene, and her mother was hospitalized with injuries.
