Three children drowned in a single day in the Rivne region — police
In the Rivne region, a series of water-related tragedies occurred within a single day, resulting in the drowning of three teenagers aged 11, 14, and 15.
Police and rescue workers recovered the bodies of the victims in various parts of the region following extensive search operations.
Investigators have launched preliminary investigations into all reported incidents to determine the detailed circumstances of each accident.
The first tragic incident was reported in the village of Tsepcevychi in the Sarny District, where law enforcement officers searched all night for a missing teenager.
At approximately 1:20 a.m. on June 21, a local resident contacted the police to report that her son had not returned home after going for a bike ride.
Near the Horyn River, law enforcement officers and rescue workers found the child’s bicycle and personal belongings, and around 10:00 a.m., the body of the 14-year-old boy was discovered in a body of water.
Another incident occurred in the town of Dubrovytsia, where a 15-year-old girl died while spending time with a group of peers. Police have preliminarily determined that the teenager was relaxing with friends at a local pond and disappeared underwater while swimming.
Forty minutes later, a local resident found the girl and pulled her ashore, but despite prolonged resuscitation efforts, medical personnel were unable to save her.
A third fatal water-related accident occurred in the evening in the village of Prysluch, where an 11-year-old girl died due to a lack of adult supervision.
Around 11:00 p.m., the child’s mother contacted the police to report her sudden disappearance. Law enforcement officers determined that the girl had been near the Sluch River with friends, where the children, unsupervised by adults, decided to go swimming.
After the girl went missing, her friends became very frightened and ran away without informing any adults about the dangerous situation. During an emergency search operation, divers discovered the child’s body in a body of water approximately 800 meters from the site where she went missing.
Investigators are currently looking into the case under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, classified as an “accident.”
