In the Czech Republic, there are doubts about new large-scale aid to Ukraine ahead of winter
The Czech government is unlikely to publicly announce a new major aid program for Ukraine on the eve of winter, but Czech society and the business community are ready to continue their support. This was stated by STAN party leader and Member of Parliament Vit Rakusan.
According to him, the government’s position is influenced by the presence in the coalition of the SPD party, which opposes further support for Ukraine. Rakusan also stated that the SPD links social tensions in the Czech Republic to Ukrainians, although, he said, there is no evidence to support this.
At the same time, the politician noted that the government has not canceled the Czech initiative to purchase ammunition for Ukraine, although it avoids speaking publicly about it.
Rakushan suggested that even in the event of a serious energy crisis in Ukraine, the Czech government might not dare to launch a new large-scale state aid program. However, he added that Czech businesses are ready to supply generators and help Ukraine cope with the consequences of Russian attacks on its energy sector.
