In June, more than a thousand people attempted to cross the border illegally — Demchenko
During June, Ukrainian border guards detained more than a thousand people who were attempting to cross the state border illegally or were in the border zone without the proper permits.
“In total, slightly more than a thousand violators were detained at the border and in the border zone during June,” said an official spokesperson for the agency.
These figures indicate a consistently high level of attempts to cross the border illegally, which the relevant agencies face on a daily basis.
According to official data, the total number of people detained since the beginning of 2026 has already reached 6,300 citizens.
The Ukrainian-Romanian border remains the most challenging section, where approximately 3,300 violators were detected.
The section of the border with the Republic of Moldova ranks second in terms of the number of recorded attempts to cross illegally.
There, during the same period, border guards stopped 1,300 people who were attempting to bypass official checkpoints.
Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, announced this during a briefing at Ukrinform.
