Communities without gas stations are developing a new way to sell fuel

Communities without gas stations are developing a new way to sell fuel

In some Ukrainian communities, Russian shelling has destroyed all fixed gas stations. As a result, local residents may be left without access to fuel, and rebuilding the destroyed gas stations remains dangerous at this time due to the threat of further attacks.

The government plans to introduce a new mechanism for selling fuel, which should ensure its availability to the public even in communities where regular gas stations are no longer operational.

According to Deputy Minister of Finance Svitlana Vorobey, such communities already exist, particularly in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions. There, Russian strikes have destroyed 100% of the fixed gas stations.

At the same time, some operators are reluctant to rebuild the destroyed facilities, as they could once again become targets of Russian attacks.

How they plan to solve the problem

Because of this, the Ministry of Finance, together with the State Tax Service, local government bodies, and representatives of the fuel industry, is drafting a bill on mobile fueling stations.

The proposed changes are intended to allow the legal use of mobile gas stations in communities where stationary stations have been destroyed or where their operation poses a danger.

Vorobey expects that over the next week, they will be able to compile the final proposals and prepare a nearly finalized draft for submission to parliament.

According to the deputy minister, the issue concerns not only ensuring communities have access to fuel but also public safety. Fixed fuel retail locations are becoming targets of Russian attacks, resulting in casualties at such facilities.

Therefore, the government wants to establish a controlled and legal mechanism for selling fuel from mobile refueling stations. This will allow communities to be supplied with fuel without the need to constantly rebuild destroyed gas stations.

This was reported with reference to the Telegram channel of Olga Vasilevska-Smaglyuk, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament from the “Servant of the People” faction.

How much do gasoline, diesel, and natural gas cost at gas stations on August 9?

As a reminder, as of August 7, 2026, Ukrainian gas station chains updated their fuel prices. The average price of A-95 gasoline is about 81.67 UAH per liter, and diesel fuel is 91.56 UAH per liter.

In May, Ukrainian banks issued 776 mortgage loans totaling over 1.5 billion hryvnias. The largest number of homes purchased with mortgages were in the Kyiv region and the capital. Most new mortgages were taken out to purchase homes on the primary market, but there is also demand for apartments and houses that already have owners.
