In Khmelnytskyi, a TCC employee was caught drunk driving for the second time this year and was fined
The Khmelnytskyi City and District Court found the driver of a Mercedes-Benz S 500L guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol for the second time within a year and fined him 34,000 hryvnias.
According to the case file, on May 22, 2026, at 2:06 a.m. in Khmelnytskyi on P. Mirnyi Street, law enforcement officers stopped a Mercedes-Benz S 500L whose driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Thus, the man violated the requirements of Section 2.9(a) of the Traffic Rules of Ukraine.
Law enforcement officers conducted a test using a special “Drager” device, which showed 1.03 per mille of alcohol in the driver’s system. The test results were confirmed by a printout from the device and the corresponding inspection report.
During the hearing, the court also established that on April 29, 2026, the driver had already been held administratively liable for driving while intoxicated, confirming that this was a repeat offense within a year.
In addition to written evidence, the court reviewed video recordings from police body cameras, which documented the act of driving and the driver undergoing a sobriety test.
Despite being duly notified of the date and time of the hearing, the offender did not appear in court, did not provide any reasons for his absence, and did not file any motions to postpone the hearing.
After reviewing all the materials, the court concluded that the driver’s guilt had been fully proven and that his actions were correctly classified under Part 2 of Article 130 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.
Based on the results of the hearing in Case No. 686/16235/26, the court ruled to impose a fine of 34,000 hryvnias on the driver and to revoke his driver’s license for a period of three years.
The court also ordered the offender to pay court fees to the state. The court did not order the vehicle to be impounded.
Earlier, the High Anti-Corruption Court upheld a claim by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and ruled that the assets of the former head of the Kremenchuk District Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support were of unaccounted origin.
Bill No. 15303 was registered in the Verkhovna Rada, which provides for increased criminal liability for unlawful deprivation of liberty by state officials, with a focus on the actions of TCC employees. The punishment will increase to 7–12 years of imprisonment.
