Shirshin, the former commander of the 47th Mechanized Brigade, stated that drugs had been planted on him
Ukrainian servicemember Oleksandr Shyrshyn, who had previously resigned as battalion commander of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade following a conflict with the command, claimed that drugs had allegedly been planted on him. He reported this, claiming that the drugs in question were “weed.”
Shirshin resigned from his position as battalion commander following a public conflict with the command, specifically due to his disagreement with the tasks assigned to the unit. Now, the soldier has reported a new incident involving narcotics that were allegedly planted on him.
“Time for some crazy stories: They planted weed on me. It’s all very interesting and well-planned. Thanks to everyone involved,” he wrote.
According to the soldier, there were many people “who looked like SBU agents” right there during the traffic stop. Law enforcement officers “pretend not to know them, but they were passing on information about me.”
In May 2025, Oleksandr Shyrshyn announced that he had submitted his resignation. He cited “stupid orders” from higher command and unjustified casualties as the main reasons for his decision.
“I’ve never received more idiotic orders than the ones I’ve gotten on this current front. I’ll share the details someday, but the senseless loss of lives and the fear of the clueless generals lead to nothing but failure. All they’re capable of is reprimands, investigations, and imposing penalties. They’re all going down the drain. ‘Political’ games and their assessment of the real state of affairs don’t correspond to either reality or our capabilities. They’ve gone too far,” Shyrshyn wrote.
The General Staff responded by stating that it had formed a working group to investigate the circumstances outlined in the post by the commander of a unit of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
A month after the public criticism, the internal investigation concluded that Oleksandr Shyrshyn had been “insubordinate.”
