In Khust, a driver sprayed pepper spray at a pregnant woman
A pregnant woman was attacked in the city of Khust in Zakarpattia. The 23-year-old victim, who is five months pregnant, was attacked by a driver who sprayed pepper spray in her face. The circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
This was reported by the Transcarpathian Regional Police.
Law enforcement officers established that a 25-year-old local resident was driving a BMW down one of the city streets. He decided not to yield to two women as they were crossing the road at a crosswalk. The driver stopped in the middle of the crosswalk and blocked the women’s path.
He then got out of the car and began acting aggressively, using profanity toward the women.
When the women tried to leave the scene of the conflict, the assailant took a can of pepper spray from the car and began chasing them. He managed to catch up with the women on the sidewalk. The man sprayed the gas in the face of one of the women. She suffered eye burns. Medical personnel provided her with assistance.
Police detained the assailant under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He was placed in a temporary detention facility. The man was charged with hooliganism committed using an object specially adapted or prepared in advance to inflict bodily harm (Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
A pre-trial investigation is currently underway.
