According to UA NEWS sources, the Office of the President is preparing for a possible change in leadership at the Kyiv City Military Administration. According to sources, the current head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko, may step down in the coming weeks.
There has been no official confirmation of this information yet. There have also been no statements from either the Office of the President or Tkachenko himself. However, according to our sources, several candidates for the position of the new head of the KMVA are already being discussed at Bankova Street. Among those being considered, according to our sources, are:
- Serhiy Movenko — a military officer and commander of a unit of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
- Maksym Bakhmatov — a public figure, former advisor to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, and founder of the Office of Transformation.
- Oleg Lyashko — a member of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, former member of parliament, and leader of the Radical Party.
- Two military officers whose names are not being disclosed at this time.
- Fesyk—according to our sources—is also among the candidates. (If this refers to a specific Fesyk, it is worth clarifying his first name and current position, as there are several public figures with that last name.)
Reports on Telegram channels about the possible appointment of Oleg Lyashko have attracted particular attention in recent days. According to one version, the President allegedly offered him the position of head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, but he refused. According to another version, it was Lyashko himself who put his name forward, and the Office of the President responded positively to the idea. There is currently no confirmation of this information either.
The appearance of Lyashko’s name among the possible candidates has sparked lively discussion. Some social media users believe that his military service has changed him as a leader and given him new experience. Others point to his political past and mixed reputation. The candidacy of Maksym Bakhmatov is being discussed just as actively. He is well-versed in the workings of the city government and has previously been involved in issues related to the capital’s development. At the same time, critics point out that some of his projects were never implemented.
According to sources, a final decision on the new head of the Kyiv City Military Administration has not yet been made. Consultations are ongoing at the Office of the President, and the list of potential candidates may still change. As a reminder, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration is responsible for the capital’s defense, coordinating the work of security forces, civil protection, and cooperation with local authorities during martial law.
