In Kremenchuk, two teenagers were electrocuted on the roof of a freight car

In Kremenchuk, Poltava Oblast, two teenagers suffered serious injuries after being electrocuted on the railroad tracks. The boys, aged 13 and 14, climbed onto the roof of a freight car, where they were electrocuted by the overhead power lines.

The incident occurred on July 21 at around 9:30 p.m. near the Cherednyky railway station in the vicinity of Yuri Ruf Street. Police received a report from medical personnel regarding injuries to two minors.

According to preliminary reports, a group of teenagers was on the grounds of the train station. Two of the boys climbed onto the roof of a freight car, after which they were electrocuted by the overhead power lines.

The victims, who were in serious condition, were hospitalized in the intensive care unit of a children’s hospital. Law enforcement officials are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident.

The police urged parents to talk to their children about safe behavior near railway facilities.

Law enforcement officials emphasized that the railway overhead contact system carries high voltage, so a fatal electric shock can occur even without direct contact with the wires. Climbing onto train cars or other rolling stock, as well as taking photos or videos there, is life-threatening.

This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Poltava region.

In the Kyiv region, a 23-year-old man died from an electric shock in a cellar.

In the Zhytomyr region, a teenager suffered severe burns from an electric shock on the roof of a train.
