In Rivne, a man made a bomb threat against a police station

In Rivne, a man reported an alleged bomb threat at a police station. Criminal investigators quickly identified the hoaxer and apprehended him. The man was unable to explain to law enforcement why he decided to report the “bomb threat.” He faces 4 to 8 years in prison for his actions.

Law enforcement officials determined that yesterday, October 5, an unknown man, while under the influence of alcohol, repeatedly called the hotlines of several emergency services and reported a bomb threat at one of the police stations in the regional capital. However, he did not specify the address of the facility.

Within 1.5 hours, investigators identified the hoax caller: he turned out to be a 37-year-old resident of the village of Orzhiv.

Police detained the suspect in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed him in a temporary detention facility.

The investigator launched a pretrial investigation under Part 2 of Article 259 (knowingly false report of a threat to public safety or the destruction or damage of property) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The issue of notifying the suspect of the charges against him and selecting a preventive measure is currently being decided.

The investigation is ongoing.

This was reported by the Rivne Regional Police.

The head of the patrol police proposed a new penalty for traffic violators.

As a reminder, the police have warned Ukrainians about fake fines for traffic violations.

Fines for speeding will increase sharply in Ukraine.

Over the past year, the number of reserved workers in Ukraine has increased significantly—by approximately 300,000 people—and the number of enterprises recognized as critically important to the economy has also risen. Government officials attribute these changes to the expansion of the “reservation” mechanisms, particularly for regions near the front lines, and are preparing to update the regulations.
