The budget amendments do not allocate enough funds for military salaries, says MP
The current amendments to the state budget do not allocate sufficient funds for the promised pay raise for Ukrainian military personnel.
According to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, this issue was discussed during a meeting of the relevant subcommittee on budget amendments. The MP reported this on his Telegram channel.
The lawmaker noted that despite all the high-profile statements and promises to raise pay for defenders, the document currently does not allocate enough funds.
He also added that there is currently not enough funding even to cover current expenditures on military salaries at 2025 levels. At the same time, Yaroslav Zheleznyak stated that the budget amendments instead provide for funding for cashback, salaries for the Security Service of Ukraine, and other items.
The 2026 budget planned to significantly increase spending on defense and security—an additional 1.56 trillion hryvnias is allocated. The funds will go toward military salaries, weapons, equipment, and strengthening critical infrastructure.
