Ukraine provided humanitarian aid to flood victims in Ghana
The Ukrainian Agri-Hub in Ghana, established as part of the international “Food from Ukraine” initiative, delivered humanitarian aid to people affected by widespread flooding in the country’s capital, Accra.
The aid went to refugees and other residents who found themselves in difficult circumstances due to the natural disaster. This initiative is yet another example of Ukraine’s support for other countries, even in the midst of a full-scale war.
The first Ukrainian agricultural hub in Africa is designed not only to facilitate food supplies but also to assist local communities in crisis situations.
The aid handover ceremony took place on July 8 with the participation of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Ghana and the Ghana Refugee Board. The humanitarian initiative was carried out by the “Ridne” consortium (Ridne Humanitarian Food Hub in Ghana) in partnership with the Ukrainian community in Ghana.
The humanitarian shipment included food and essential items for refugee families affected by the natural disaster.
During a meeting with Nasibatu Taahiru Swalla, Executive Secretary of the Ghana Refugee Board, Ivan Lukachuk, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of Ukraine in the Republic of Ghana, emphasized the importance of supporting the most vulnerable segments of the population.
He also highlighted the efforts of the “Ridne” consortium and the Ukrainian community in Ghana, which have joined forces to provide assistance to those affected. According to him, Ukrainian partners have already proven themselves to be reliable participants in humanitarian initiatives, which opens up opportunities for further cooperation.
